here is finally the first single from yakine, a close member to the eklo family. after his featuring on the hooksey vol.1, he gave us four tracks which he worked specially for this ep. yakine explored a new sound, some more melodic and deeper works, different from his usual stuff. captor of sin, the main track here. we find yakine in a more pop dimension with the vocals. the metric rhythm is mix it up with sub and perky shuffle grooves, everything harmonized through a lead ambiance made of weird synts & pads. then shirp, lead from synths, the track go on in the same vibe, more excentric and percussive, rounded beat, and a slap bass, 80s funk type. on the flip, temptation, a more singular track, a great detroit techno influenced, with his unusual keys and some indus sounds. the story ending with aferone, a deep and sensitive balad, overhang by a poetic piano coming and going all along. solid and versatile 12 inch.

jay haze aka fuckponys superb ode to love in general and loved-up ravers in particular provides us with another sparkling gem: the second single from his current lp has the equally romantic and revealing title >i m burning inside<. it allows us to clearly feel that love-fuelled power, but never lets us get close enough to the fire to get seriously burned. jays sound is simply a tad too cool for that. despite all the emotional appeal, he always keeps a wink in store to save us right at the brink. the remixers reboot and paul ritch give far more obvious signals. both of them say loud and clear: dance!

we are happy to present our first japanese artist on quintessentials, ryo murakami. ryo is no stranger to the scene, as he already released a bunch of records on respected labels like dessous, pokerflat or soon on mule musique. the main track >lunch of god< is a deep, raw and reduced house track with a strong us flavour and was already featured in jus eds underground quality radio show. ryo takes it even further with reducing - the result is >depths, a basic kickin techno track. the flipside offers the more than 11 minutes long >lunch of god< remix by house master scott ferguson. the ferris park maestro keeps things close to the original but adds more club feel plus a superb lil bonus track of his own. check it out!

dasha rush though a new signing has been a very close ally of sonic groove over the last four years. adam x owner of sonic groove met dasha in a very ironic way at a random party in nyc where the music being played was not to their liking...

final daniel wang release on rush hour, incl. 6 tracks not on the recent compilation. the balihu bootleg ep is the final release in the best of balihu series on rush hour. this 6 track ep holds two unreleased tracks (!) and four early works and b-sides. this ep starts with sylver belt which was included on the never released and much in demand balihu 002. not feeling it and east side hustle are early b-side balihu tracks that were not featured on the compilation. side b continues with the instrumental version of if it feels good. this deep, electronic track was taken from the vault of danny and has not been released before. shadows & unhouse are again two early danny tracks that were not on the balihu compilation. and with this limited ep we close off this wonderful project with danny. we hope to see him back one day with new music

her touching, classic-jack inspired productions continue to gracefully bubble towards the international surface with this 12 inch. her debut cut for the label, >24 hours<, featured on tama sumos >panoramabar 02< compilation set out her production intentions quite eloquently. >kill me< continues the warm, traveling night-time vibes and opens steffis signature sound up into a full vocal-led celebration of house.
besides steffis killer chicago inspired throb and moody melodic structure, >kill me< features the sultry vocal talents of close friend elif bicer, also recording partner of label mates prosumer and murat tepeli. elifs tender and instinctive story of a love lost and found flows honestly and creatively throughout the vocal version. an instrumental dub is also included for the creative use of the dj.

vakant continues its valt series with the third installment of uncompromising club tracks. started in 2008 with onur Özer and followed up by tolga fidan in 2009, dario zenker brings up valt3 in 2010. vakants representation in the decent south of germany locates belfort as close to detroit as its indefinite in time. was it written by little dario in the 90s? or maybe on a us tour in detroit itself with some helping hands? we dont know, but surely have a timeless piece of music here

>busy time< starts with a long warm intro and a duby chord which risesto a kind of detroit-style groove while the beat drops. fresh vocals and changing percussion shaking perfectly through the coldest night.
>deep fall< was produced in that mood when warm feelings come to mind, reflecting those nights when time falls down into deep winter-feelings. atmospheric voices, deep hits, stabs and chords melting toa catchy atmospheric feeling.

label chief guy gerber returns with a stunning 12 inch double ep on his own >supplement facts records<. all seven original mixes in this release were written and produced during the summer of 2009 and each one captures a particular aspect of this period for guy. summer time meant busy time this year! apart from touring and being based in ibiza for his weekly residence at space, guy managed to find studio time to work on his album (scheduled for 2010) and this release. my invisible romance is an intimate glance into the seemingly borderless music production world of guy gerber. whilst delivering gerbers signature production style this release also surprises with its romantic elements and as usual he teases the listener with his trademark dream-like adaptations. the inspiration for this release came from guys regular performances and majorly from the time spent on the road- as a guest artist in friends studios and from his work in >improvised studios<. >my invisible romance< is a release close to guy gerbers chest, filled with emotions and surprises- a truly intimate collection of musical works

saved records continues their busy release schedule towards the close of 2009 with one of their strongest packages to date, a release from marc ashken and matt tolfrey. between them, the duo have released tracks on respected labels such as cocoon, perc trax, crosstown rebels, viva, and matts label leftroom. for their saved release, the duo present >babygirl<, an amazing deep house track, which is layered with deep twisted vocals and is sure to destroy the dance floors over the christmas clubbing period and right into 2010.
alongside the original on the a-side is a remix from none other than legend derrick carter. known for being one of the best underground house djs and producers on the planet, derricks incredible remix keeps the deep, grooving feel that the original possesses and includes the vocals which he has edited to great effect. alongside his sharp use of hi-hats to keep the track flowing, the track drops into and back out of the bass line to create a great end product.
on the flipside, the second remix comes from amsterdam based artist, daniel sanchez. the bla bla label owner delivers an amazing take on the track, presenting a much more stripped down and ambient result, perfect for warming the night up with.
the >babygirl< package is a must for all deep house djs.

>i have always had close ties with fabric and this time they have really paid off. fabric were putting together a new cd called >elevator music< that featured a lot of the new uk drum n bass/house hybrid material coming out right now. they sent me a couple tracks by a new guy named julio bashmore which i really liked. literally the next night i had a gig in bristol and julio came to the show and gave me even more tracks. these were my favorite two tracks of his. i really like this mix of jungle and house. i also like this new breed of producer who isn’t scared or mired in tradition. i’m definitely feelin it!<

world renowned bbc radio 1 dj gilles peterson compiles a spectacular collage mix tape from the vaults of far out recordings for this fifteenth anniversary celebration. a close friend to joe davis for 25 years, gilles peterson has been a constant supporter of the original and best uk based brazilian record label.

brand new intrusion! the first killer twelve of 2009 and the perfect way to soothe the post nye hangover. the title track >seduction< is an epic beauty as deep as the sea which does exactly as the title suggest, a sort of seduction of sound if you will, so immersive you could swim in it’s three dimensions. the bass line is so deep you can feel the vibrations in jamaica! the song soars along and in minutes reveals its magical analogue frequencies as shards of blissful chords sail around your speakers in a full spectrum panorama affair so easy to sink into. next up is “silence” leading us into ambient territory for a short but sweet three minute excursion which i could only imagine as a soundtrack while floating in deep space. the release comes to a close with cv313’s near 12 minute rendition, a beautiful dub house soundscape filled with tribal rhythms and gorgeous atmosphere recalling moments from echospace’s landmark album “the coldest season” on modern love. this is music which clearly focuses on every fine detail, filled with loads of space and bass and the analogue warmth we’ve come to love from the echospace signature. as with all things echospace this is severely limited and is pressed on to beautiful coloured vinyl.

the >murmur ep<, limited edition of 500 units in coloured vinyl, the sight belows followup to 2008s full-length glider, is a bracing step forward for the reclusive seattle-based artist, comprising two new songs and a notable remix. the sight below uses the murmur ep as an opportunity for expansion, turning up the contrast on his silky tones to expose an even more deeply textured sound with a powerful emotional effect. on the >murmur ep<, the textures are denser, courser—closer to kevin shields jagged oceans of guitar than gliders wisps of reverb — and the beats are meatier, funkier even. the sight below comes close to recording a real dance track with >murmur<, slipping a skipping syncopation and an honest-to-god bass line into a roiling cloud of distortion. >wishing me asleep< incorporates bits of strings into the mix for a touch of cinematic melancholy.

>mustang< is a perfect techno track, it sums up what a whole techno night could be like. it is a fast track but also a deep cool track, when the chords join in one gets close to heaven. it is also a track that changes gear and has a nicefeeling for controlling the pace perfectly. the unbeatable cool alex under beat and 3d sound experiments that sound as if ice cubes were rotating in a tumbler make it a super track.
>charger< is a massive track! the track seems to suck up air to created a vacuum and also sounds a bit as if there was a problem with the ignition of the charger! once it gets going it is indeed a heavy rocking track!>firebird< is a fat sounding house track, which can be plaid by house djs as well as techno djs using a cool walking bassline and a super tight slapping snare and cool house vocals on top of it! starting housy the track develops into a hi energy, appegiator driven track showing alex unders talent for moving genres skilfully from one end to the other! this is a great track!

stroboscopic artefacts is proud to welcome on board singapore-based xhin (meerestief). with his production wizardry he has been crafting ominous cuts of cutting-edge techno.>fixing the error< is an enormous peak-time club killer. xhin knits together the sinister sound of the revolt of the machines. high frequency drum machines and ferrous sub-bass synthesizers are working urgently against the clock. close your eyes, dissolve, step into dystopia. you are transported into a post-human cityscape where strobes reflect off smelting metallic sounds and deafening alarms wail. these warning codes, layer upon layer, fashion a vision of a metropolis gorging itself on sprawling noises. the flip side, >link< has no narrative. instead, this deep, brooding slice of dub-techno is composed of pure atmospheric pressure. the undercarrige slithers and slinks, interrupted by crackles of lightening and prehistoric rumbles. the result is a construction created in a cold palate of pyrite grey: bubbling, spherical and terrifying. this is dark. this is urgent. this is xhin.

our jazzy multi instrumentalist, dewalta a.k.a. david koch, returns to vakant with another popping fresh release, as earnestly house as house can get. since his first vakant release in 2008 (va021 salgaro/farina) davids music has taken him around the world in black largely covering our earths northern and southern hemispheres. side a is graced by move yo sitting as close to late 1990s baby ford as one can get without a time machine and personal guide to londons underground. david somehow owns this genre while still making it distinctly his. b1 night shade keeps the housey goose bumps going with a drier and more direct approach. cheeky bleeps and chunky bass balance dark spacey vocals to land the track somewhere between night and day. >angels trumpet< at the b2 position closes this stellar ep out with a track that again borrows from the genre, but continues way beyond its standards with melodic elements that push and pull you in multiple directions resulting in no less than dance floor catharsis.

for more than 15 years now, steve bug is known for influential track somewhere in between house, techno and minimalism. with his very good sense for the energy of self-limitation, bug has set standards when it comes to the funk of modern sound geometry, especially with his imprint poker flat recordings. milestones such as >loverboy<, >monsterbaze< or >wet n dry< are now essential elements of the history of electronic dance music. only a few weeks after the release of his fourth album collaboratory, bug even tops that one with this 12 inch on cocoon: while look whos stalking obviously refers to steves close relation to the raw energy of u.s. house in between chicago trax and detroit, using driving hand claps, percussions and nasty vocals, the flipside zero balance could pass as a vision of how far you can reduce techhouse to the essence of a bass line. also here, short vocal loops - besides the fast-moving elements - complete a sensibility that makes bugs tracks such high quality music for a very long time now.

october 2009 heralds the release of 5, a double cd marking hyperdubs five years of life as a record label. honouring past, present and future in equal measure, 5 is comprised of one disc of prior highlights, and one of freshly composed material contributed by hyperdub artists and close friends. a series of five 12inch eps featuring a selection of the new tunes will be issued, one per week, leading up to the release of 5. the initial pressing quantity of these eps will be dictated by preorder demand, and none will be repressed, nor will they be made available digitally, before the complete cd collection is on sale.

following the great international success of glitterbugs album >supershelter<, everyone has been curious to hear what this unique and unmatched producer will bring us next. and truth is, there is a lot! glitterbug has been working on piles of new enchanting materials, tracks, projects and remixes.
as a first release in a series that will lead to his next (double cd) album, is the >dim flares ep<: a dream-like, intense and deep moody ep that carries that very special glitterbug sound to a whole new level, touching on deep emotional techno with a utopian 4/4 perspective.
this beautiful ep opens with >so much more>, an epic track that releases its melancholic-euphoric mood slowly over the course of 9 minutes, turning itself into a beautiful, hopeful, hand-raising screamer that floods the dance floor with overwhelming warmth and heartfelt love. side a ends with >deadpan<, an intense dark ambient miniature that lets us peak at glitterbugs world of score-like ambient compositions.
the b-side begins with >daubed beams<, a deephouse track all glitterbug. >daubed beams< feels like what mid 90s detroit techno released on warp would have sounded like: unbelievably deep, pensive, warm, divine and pumping.
c.sides latest emotive ep culminates with >be content<, a warm track with a deep drive of warped pads, a dark bass-line, airy percussion and unforgettable arpeggios. this exhilarating dance track is layered with bottomless emotions, the kind you want to close your eyes to, hug the person dancing next to you and wish it would never ever end.
the >dim flares ep< is the first in a series of 3 magnificently moving eps (by glitterbug, christian löffler, and a collaboration between glitterbug & ostgut ton s murat tepeli) to be released on the c.sides label in 2009-2010, all leading up to glitterbugs extraordinary next double album which is currently in the making and will be released in spring 2010.

a little less than two and a half years after its conception—and close to 30 singles, one compilation, one mix cd and one sublabel later—berlins mobilee releases its first artist album. naturally, who better to represent the milestone than pan-pot, who so far have delivered five essential singles to mobilee, helping to anchor the ever-shifting sound of one of europes most exciting labels. in just two short years, with 10 singles (for mobilee and einmaleins musik) and lots of remixes, theyve become known far and wide for their distinctive, groovy, and above all ominous sound. pan-o-rama finds the boys stretching that sound in every possible direction: twisting, tearing, and using the shreds to drag a wide swath of techno history into the future (and, just maybe, to drag a few pieces of techno future back into the past). call it minimal if you must, but this aint no clickity-clack shit. you can hear the agonized gurgle of isolationist acid, reminiscent of plastikmans darkest nights. you can hear the percolating urgency of classic bleep techno. tried and true hardware collides with restless digital experimentation as dance musics dna worms its way into twisted new shapes. pan-o-rama is dark, thats for damned sure. eerie vocals that seem to come from within the listeners own head creep across the stereo field. throughout, restrained minor-key melodies conjure 21st century noir, and a relentless low-end rumble seems to suck up all the light around it

claire ripley, the london based producer and head of her new phobic records imprint sends over some lovely extended and hypnotic vibes with this magnifi cent four tracker, backed up by a classy remix by gorge of 8bit and cecille fame. just the right medicine as summer draws to a close! written and produced by herself, & engineered by justin drake, the ep captures all the excitement & promise that a new artist like claire exudes, plus the added bonus of having one half of peace division working the mix. nice! title track labyrinth introduces us into claires world with long, drifting arrangements full of tension and cooly placed melodic sentiments. deeply tuned, chunky drums work the floor while only a handful of carefully selected elements sing their tune. flirting between sunrise synth-lines and tingling atmospheric moments its a haunting adventure into modern hypno-house. gorges remix of >labyrinth< lifts the energy a notch with his trademark rolling drums and pushing energy from the very start. using the main hooks with discretion this 8 minute drum workout is a tough, addictive and essential club tool.

as the european summer draws to a close, the next rekluse release takes a brief change in direction and offers up something a little lighter to accompany the last of the hazy rays. after the previous electronic madness from simon stokes, mr copy, loco & jam and kiko we are joined for this release by la based artist erphun.
erphun has had a pretty hectic summer himself, appearing on steve lawler s viva , dave seaman s audio therapy , oliver huntemann s ideal audio and stephen bodzin s hertzblut . not a bad run at all. with previous releases and remixes on mutekki , saw recordings , excentric muzik and forthcoming releases on bedrock (+ john digweed s new comp) as well as 8 sided dice , this guy has had a busy couple of years...
to complete the package mr henry von (joint label owner of rekluse with fergie) has reworked tu sueno, giving it some of his trademark bite and re-marrying the vocal to the breakdown, keeping things shaking until there is no where left to go but to bring that beat straight back in...

>crewcuts & curls< is the greatest collection of prime productions yet from wales hottest new export, tomdemac. vibrant and dynamic, >crewcuts & curls< engages the listener in the moment. drawing you in with its tauntingvocal, demac creates a youthful sound that is masterfully produced, the product of a gifted musical mind. sweet humming is the haunting close, gradually filling the speakers with deep and prolific doses of swinging chicago-inspired house to create a whirling and effervescent creature. this is the third and most striking package that tom demac has produced for murmur.

andré decided spontaneously to record fresh material especially for the label, more than 6 months before our fi rst release. this says a lot about the common trust that was born that day, much before the hype surrounding the man. the result of this saw the light some weeks later in the form of vehemence of silence, a track of indeniable power which breathes long years of djing & berlin afterhours as much as uncovering close impressions of andré’s emotional outcome. this is what made me feel that track like a whisper to my body & soul and what makes me so proud to release it today… more than 10 months down the line, andré improved it, tested it on the fl oor till a fi nal club listening session in the middle of the berghain dancefl oor where we both knew it was ready to be shared… this special track needed of course outstanding alternative perspectives and it didnt take me long to propose my old friend danilo plessow amongst andrés favorites to give it his magic : motor city drum ensembles version translates an unexpected techno jam reminiscent of the best early soma days. the ep is completed by a second original called dark edge, a sophisticated & raw deep house joint. a&r and words by dairmount

this record is just so wooow it hurts to close the gap. it s like it says on the tin of cliches: >the definition< is giving you a concise description of where soul clap, the humorous boston-based house duo, is heading. well, not quite: more where they have arrived, actually. they have found their style. eleven out of ten! this is light years away from the sick >puppy crack< anthem that left you with wobbly legs. get ready to be completely overwhelmed as the sassy producers beamed themselves into futuristic groove heavens while staying firmly grounded on the proto 90s floor. right on!
